2 Face Cocaine Trafficking Charges On Cape Cod

One man is already on probation for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Here's what to know.

HYANNIS, MA — Two people face charges in a cocaine trafficking case on Cape Cod, the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office announced,

Ilya Zinov, 36, of Hyannis, and Jermaine Dudley, 33, of New Bedford, were arraigned in the Barnstable District Court for their involvement in trafficking cocaine in Hyannis this week.

On the evening of Aug. 5, a Massachusetts State Police Trooper conducted surveillance on Dudley, following him from New Bedford to an address in Hyannis. Barnstable Police detectives joined the surveillance and investigation when Dudley arrived in Hyannis.

Both men were observed engaging in a quick meeting in a vehicle in a parking lot in Hyannis, based on the experiences of the investigating State Trooper, involved a narcotics exchange.

Officials approached the men and ultimately recovered over half a kilogram of what they believe is cocaine and a "large" sum of money. Both were arrested on the scene and face charges of cocaine trafficking.

Officials issued search warrants for addresses associated with Zinov, who is currently on probation for aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The Cape and Islands DA’s Office filed a motion to hold Dudley and Zinov without bail "as a danger to the community at their arraignments."

Both defendants were held in custody for a hearing on the motion scheduled for Friday.
