8-12 Inches: Barnstable Snowfall Forecast Upgraded
Winter Storm Jonas will also bring damaging winds to Barnstable Saturday.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Winter Storm Jonas will bury Barnstable in 8-12 inches of snow Saturday.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Barnstable starting Saturday at 4 a.m. There will be 6-10 inches of heavy, wet snow—accompanied by 50 mph wind gusts. Power outages are possible.

- A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM SATURDAY TO 7 AM EST SUNDAY.
- LOCATIONS...SOUTH COAST OF MASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND INCLUDING CAPE COD AND NANTUCKET.
- ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 6 TO 10 INCHES...WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE SOUTH COAST.
- TIMING...SNOW WILL DEVELOP BY MID MORNING SATURDAY AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SNOWFALL RATES UP TO ONE INCH PER HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE AT TIMES. GUSTY WINDS UP TO 50 MPH COMBINED WITH THE SNOW WILL RESULT IN NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES WITH CONSIDERABLE BLOWING SNOW. THE SNOW WILL BEGIN TO TAPER OFF AFTER MIDNIGHT SATURDAY NIGHT.
- IMPACTS...DANGEROUS TRAVEL WITH HEAVY SNOW AND POOR VISIBILITIES. HEAVY SNOW COMBINED WITH STRONG WINDS MAY RESULT IN ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES.
- WINDS...NORTHEAST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH. * TEMPERATURES...IN THE UPPER 20S. * VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.
