Barnstable To Host 17th 9/11 Remembrance Day Ceremony
The day starts at the Fire Department before moving to St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Here's what to know.
BARNSTABLE, MA — The Barnstable Fire and Police Departments will host a 9/11 Remembrance Day ceremony at St. Mary's Episcopal Church this week. The Thursday event will mark the 17th year of the joint ceremony.
Events begin at 10 a.m. at the Barnstable Fire Department, 3249 Main St., where a ceremony will be held, including guest speakers and a program led by Fire Chief Chris Beal.
At 10:30 a.m., a process will begin at the firehouse on Main Street to St. Mary's. It will be led by Leslie Kenny playing bagpipes with the Barnstable Police Department Honor Guard.

The service at St. Mary's starts at 10:45 a.m. and will feature music and special readings. Cape Cod Community College President John Cox will serve as the keynote speaker.
Over 200 people from Massachusetts were killed in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, including three from Cape Cod.
