Barnstable West Nile Virus Risk Now 'Moderate'
This comes after a mosquito from a sampling in Barnstable tested positive for West Nile Virus.
BARNSTABLE, MA — Barnstable is among a number of cities and towns across Massachusetts that has seen a level increase in the risk of West Nile Virus.
On Thursday, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) contacted Barnstable officials to inform them that the virus had again been detected in a sample of mosquitoes collected from Barnstable.
The risk level has been increased to moderate as a result.

The same was true in Framingham and for other communities across the state where multiple positive samplings have been taken during the summer of 2025.
