Barnstable Wind Advisory: 45+ MPH Winds Could Knock Out Power

BARNSTABLE, MA — A wind advisory was issued for Barnstable Wednesday morning, as wind gusts will hit 45 mph or higher.

The advisory is in effect Wednesday from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wind gusts will hit 45 mph or higher, possibly knocking out power.

Here’s the NWS wind advisory:

• A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 9 AM EST WEDNESDAY
• LOCATIONS...INCLUDE CAPE COD AND THE ISLANDS...INCLUDING BLOCK ISLAND.
• WINDS...SOUTH 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH.
• TIMING...EXPECT WINDS TO INCREASE LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUE UNTIL MID MORNING ON WEDNESDAY
• IMPACTS...STRONG WIND GUSTS MAY TAKE DOWN TREE LIMBS...WHICH MAY RESULT IN LOCALIZED POWER OUTAGES. MOTORISTS SHOULD ALSO SLOW DOWN AND MONITOR ROAD CONDITIONS ESPECIALLY IF TREE LIMBS BLOCK ROADWAYS. WIND GUSTS MAY ALSO CAUSE PROBLEMS IN HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.
