Boston Marathon 2024: See Barnstable Runners Competing

The 128th Boston Marathon kicks off on Monday morning. Here are the locals set to race.

BARNSTABLE, MA — The 128th Boston Marathon will be held Monday, and many local athletes will be competing.

The marathon, traditionally held each year on Patriots' Day, stretches 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to downtown Boston, and attracts some of the most elite runners and other endurance athletes from around the world.

If you want to watch the race live, you can find a spot to stand along the course, with plenty of viewing spots in Ashland, Framingham and Natick. Race day begins at 6 a.m., with the first wave of men's wheelchair racers pushing off at 9:02 a.m., followed by the women at 9:05 a.m. Pro men and women runners start at 9:37 and 9:47 a.m., respectively, followed by four waves of runners beginning at 10 a.m.

Results for local athletes will be available on Monday on the Boston Athletic Association website.
