Cape Cod Beer Purchased: What It Means For Hyannis Brewery And More
The purchase is part of a growing Cape Cod and South Shore brewery company that pairs a trio of beloved outfits together.
HYANNIS, MA — Cape Cod Beer has been purchased by Triton Beverage Group, the pair announced recently, paving the way for a local brewing conglomerate to take shape.
Triton is a newly formed group comprised of Hog Island Beer Company, based in Orleans and Mayflower Brewing Company, based in Plymouth. The lineup now also features Cape Cod Beer.
Cape Cod Beer was founded by Todd and Beth Marcus in 2004.

“Beth and I are incredibly proud of what we’ve built with Cape Cod Beer,” said Todd Marcus, co-founder of Cape Cod Beer. “It was important to us that the next chapter honors our legacy and stays true to the Cape Cod spirit. Mike and the Triton team share our values and vision - we’re thrilled to see the brewery continue to grow in good hands.”
In a statement, the Marcuses said they would continue to own and operate the Hyannis brewery for the remainder of the summer season until a final transition takes place after Labor Day. There are no plans to close the Hyannis brewery location, and events and rentals are being accepted into 2026, they said.

Triton officials confirmed that point, stating that the brand identity and event strategy at the brewery will remain the same. Triton will provide additional resources, strategic support and new collaborative opportunities between Cape Cod Beer, Mayflower Brewing Company, and Hog Island Beer Co.
“This isn’t about changing Cape Cod Beer — it’s about investing in what’s already great and helping it reach new heights,” McNamara said. “Together, we’ll keep making great beer and deepening our roots in the communities we love.”
Triton Beverage Group will continue to operate each of its breweries - Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis, Hog Island Beer Co. in Orleans, and Mayflower Brewing Company in Plymouth — within their original locations.
The move is a big one for Triton, which now positions itself as the largest locally owned brewing company on Cape Cod and the South Shore.
Though the merger is new for Cape Cod and the South Shore, the strategy is likely familiar to followers of the Massachusetts craft beer scene.
In 2024, Jack's Abby announced the purchase of both Wormtown and Night Shift breweries under the Hendler Family Brewing Company umbrella.
