Cape Cod Celebrating Bike Month With Several Events
The events celebrate bicycling as an alternative to driving cars during Bay State Bike Month in September.
CAPE COD, MA — The Cape Cod Commission and the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority joined regional and state-wide efforts to celebrate bicycling as an alternative to driving cars during Bay State Bike Month in September.
There will be several biking events throughout Barnstable County this weekend to encourage people to get outside and enjoy a ride this fall. Events include:
Social Media Challenge

Post a photo from a bike ride or outing this month, share a picture of your favorite bike trail, or where you’d like to see bicycle improvements on Cape Cod. Post to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or LinkedIn using the hashtag #capecodbikemonth2021, and you’ll be entered to win a Nantucket Bicycle Basket.
Free Bike Safety Checks and e-Bike demonstrations

Join the Cape Cod Commission and SeaSports Cyclery on the Cape Cod Rail Trail to celebrate with free bike lights and gear. View maps of the region’s long-term vision of a complete bike path system from Falmouth to Provincetown. SeaSports Cyclery from Hyannis will be offering free bike safety checks, tune-ups and e-bike demonstrations. Enter our raffle to win a Nantucket Bike Basket.
Bike Commuter Breakfast Wednesday
7 to 9 a.m., Sept. 29, Shining Sea Bike way at Surf Drive & at Goodwill Park Connector, Falmouth. Hosted by the Falmouth Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee; Participating organizations: Cape Cod Commission and MassBike
Stop by Surf Drive or the Goodwill Park Connector on your commute along the Shining Sea Bike way for breakfast goodies and coffee to hear what's happening in Falmouth cycling and meet other commuters, and enter a raffle to win a Nantucket Bike Basket. The rain date is Thursday, Sept. 3
Cape Cod Adaptive Cycling with Spaulding Adaptive Sports Center
9 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22 and Saturday Sept. 28, at the McGraw Center at Nickerson Sate Park in Brewster.
Experience adaptive cycling the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Spaulding Adaptive Sports Center is offering adaptive cycling sessions to help you reach your personal sport and recreation goals while working directly with an experienced staff member. Spaulding provides a fleet of 3-wheeled adaptive cycles including hand cycles, recumbent leg-cycles, tandem cycles and youth leg or hand-powered cycles.. All abilities welcome. Sessions will be structured to maximize appropriate physical distancing. Cost: $20 per session. Register here.
Fare Free Fridays on the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority
Enjoy a free ride on the CCRTA every Friday this month. All CCRTA buses are equipped with a bike rack. Take the opportunity to check out a new place to ride your bike this month without using your car.
