Cape Cod Deck Fire Extinguished Quickly
Officials determined that an unattended barrel fire was the cause.
WELLFLEET, MA — A barrel fire prompted a response from Cape Cod firefighters on Sunday morning.
At 7:38 a.m. on Sunday, the Wellfleet Fire Department was dispatched for a report of a possible brush fire. Upon arrival, crews found an unattached deck in close proximity to the home on fire.
"The incident commander, Chief Joseph Cappello, ordered the initial response team from Engine 1 to deploy a 1-3/4" attack line to knock down the fire on the deck quickly," officials said. "A second engine was brought in to establish a water supply from a nearby hydrant and support suppression operations."
