Cape Cod Driver OD'ing Rescued By Good Samaritan: Police

Cape Cod police said a Good Samaritan alerted authorities to a driver overdosing on heroin at an intersection in Yarmouth.

YARMOUTH, MA – A Cape Cod driver overdosing on heroin in the middle of the road was recently rescued by a Good Samaritan, according to police. Michael Daley, 47, of Yarmouth, was revived with Narcan, hospitalized and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and negligent driving. The incident happened Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Taft Road and Winslow Gray Road in West Yarmouth, police said.

A passerby who contacted police said Daley "was passed out behind the steering wheel of his vehicle at the intersection ... Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer David S. Dickey arrived at the scene as well as Yarmouth Fire Department personnel and approached the vehicle and noticed that the male driver was unconscious, the vehicle was still in drive, and the motor was running," Yarmouth police said in a statement.

Police said first responders shifted the vehicle into park and turned off the engine before administering a nasal dose of the heroin overdose antidote Narcan.
