Cape Cod Firefighters Rescue Family Of Ducklings

BARNSTABLE, MA — The Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department jumped into action recently not to extinguish a blaze, but to save a family of ducklings.

On Sunday, the Station 1 standby crew responded to a public service call after a bystander noticed a mother duck frantically pacing near a storm drain, officials said.

The crew used a pencil ladder to rescue nine ducklings that had become trapped under the drain. The ducklings were safely reunited with their mother thanks to the help of officials.
