Cape Cod Man Faces Child Porn Charge

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for later this month after officials found evidence of child pornography during a search.

HYANNIS, MA — A Hyannis man faces a child pornography charge after local officials executed a search warrant at his home in August.

On Aug. 7, Barnstable police detectives, with the assistance of the United States Secret Service Cyber Fraud Task Force, executed a search warrant at the home of Cristian Martinez-Peraza, 51, in Hyannis.

As a result of the search warrant and on-scene investigation, he was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.

The search warrant was the result of a cyber tip received by the Massachusetts State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that was assigned to a task force officer from the Barnstable Police Department, officials said.

The tip alleged that a device located at Martinez-Peraza’s residence likely possessed child pornography. The on-scene investigation revealed at least one digital device that had child pornography images and videos on it, officials said.

Martinez-Peraza was arraigned at Barnstable District Court on Aug. 8. He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on Sept. 29.

A further forensic extraction of evidence seized from Martinez-Peraza’s residence, conducted by the United States Secret Service New England Cyber Fraud Task Force, revealed additional files of child sexual abuse material.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
