Cape Cod Man Gets 12 Years In Prison On Rape Charges

The man must also register as a sex offender after he is released from prison.

TRURO, MA — A Cape Cod man will serve over a decade in prison after he was found guilty on multiple sexual assault charges.

Tamanine Hamilton, 26, of Truro, was found guilty after a jury trial in the Barnstable Superior Court.

On Aug. 18, 2023, a woman walked into the Provincetown Police Department to report a sexual assault that occurred in town earlier that morning. The victim reported that she repeatedly denied multiple sexual advances from Hamilton, and felt uncomfortable around him.

However, Hamilton was found guilty of sexually assaulting her while she was walking home early that morning.

It was learned during the investigation that the victim knew Hamilton through her job, and became increasingly uncomfortable by advances he made towards her, leading her to eventually quit her job.

After a six-day trial beginning on July 14, and two hours of deliberations, a Barnstable County jury convicted Hamilton on three counts of rape and one count of indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14.

The jury found Hamilton not guilty on one count of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.

Hamilton was sentenced in the Barnstable Superior Court to 12- 14 years in state prison, 14 years’ probation concurrent with the sentence, and must register as a sex offender.
