Cape Cod Pit Bull Mix Nears A Year Without Adoption
The MSPCA is hoping for a happy ending for Laila.

CENTERVILLE, MA – The MSPCA in Cape Cod is hoping for a happy ending for Laila, a pit bull mix who is nearing a year without adoption. The dog arrived at the adoption center on Aug. 25, 2017 because she was too "high energy" for her previous home, according to MSPCA-Cape Cod Director Sarah Fairweather.
"She’s athletic and super active and needs someone who’ll run and hike and play because she’s the kind of dog who thrives in that type of home," Fairweather said in a statement.
According to the MSPCA, most dogs only wait a week or two before finding a home; Laila's stay is a rare exception. During her time at the adoption center, she's been trained by staff and volunteers and is "eager to show off her loose-leash walking and obedience skills." The staff hopes this will make her more attractive to would-be adopters.

"It’s very clear she’s not appropriate for just any home – but she’s perfect for the right home," Fairweather said. The ideal adopter would be a person or family with no other pets and time to exercise Laila for at least an hour a day.
Laila also enjoys her downtime and can be a "lounge lizard who loves nothing more than a nap in the sun with her person," Fairweather added.
