Cape Cod Police Offering Coats To Those In Need Ahead Of Frigid Cold
The Mashpee Police Department has both kid and adult-sized coats for those in need. Here's what to know.
MASHPEE, MA — Temperatures across this weekend will be lower than folks on the Cape are used to, so much so that they'll likely begin with a negative in front of the number.
To help residents that may not be prepared with proper warm weather gear, the Mashpee Police Department announced they're able to help.
"It is going to be dangerously cold this weekend. We have some winter coats available at the PD for anyone in need. Both adult and kids sizes," the department said.

"If you or someone you know could use a coat please contact MPD @ 508-539-1480 ext 7221 and check to see what is available."
Officials across the Cape have also shared tips to help residents stay warm and safe ahead of the dangerously low temperatures.

A wind chill warning is in effect starting at 10 a.m. on Friday until 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Here's the forecast from the National Weather Service for Friday through Saturday night:
Today
"Sunny. A slight chance of snow this morning. A chance of freezing spray this afternoon. Windy and much colder with highs in the mid 20s. Temperature falling to around 13 this afternoon. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of precipitation 20 percent."
Tonight
"Partly cloudy. A chance of snow showers in the evening, then snow showers likely after midnight. Heavy freezing spray. Patchy fog after midnight. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Windy and much colder with lows around 2 below. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent. Wind chill values as low as 28 below."
Saturday
"Partly sunny. A chance of snow showers in the morning. Heavy freezing spray in the morning. Windy, cold with highs around 20. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph, becoming west 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 40 mph. Chance of precipitation 50 percent. Wind chill values as low as 28 below."
Saturday Night
"Mostly cloudy. Not as cool with lows around 17. Temperature rising into the lower 30s after midnight. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph after midnight."
