Barnstable Police Sgt. Corey Frederickson is the recipient of the 2025 Cape & Islands Big Brother of the Year Award.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A Barnstable police sergeant is making a major impact beyond his job as a cop in 2025.

Corey Frederickson is the recipient of the 2025 Cape & Islands Big Brother of the Year Award for his work with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program of Cape Cod.

Frederickson, a resident of Marstons Mills, has been matched with his little brother, Brady, of Sandwich, for almost 4 years as part of the K9 Sgt. Sean M. Gannon Bigs with Badges Program.

Brady, now 12, said Frederickson has been a big support in his life. His mom, Allison, shared the following in their nomination:

"Brady absolutely adores Corey. He truly looks forward to their outings and always has a smile when we talk about Corey. Corey has helped build Brady’s confidence and treats him like one of his own."

The award comes as no surprise to his peers at the Barnstable Police Department.

"Sgt. Frederickson leads by example both within the department and in the community and has made a lasting impact on all who know him," the department said. "This award is an incredible honor, but the real winner is Corey’s Little Brother, Brady."

The Big Sister of the Year award went to Laura Dulac, of Harwich.
