Cape Cod Woman Faces Drug Trafficking Charge After Traffic Stop

The woman also had an outstanding warrant out for her arrest, police said.

YARMOUTH, MA — A recent Cape Cod traffic stop led to drug trafficking charges for a Cape Cod woman.

On Saturday, a Yarmouth police officer spotted a car that was overdue for inspection on Route 28. A traffic stop was initiated, and the car was pulled over at a gas station, officials said.

"After interacting with the driver, the officer returned to his cruiser," police said. "He was then notified from the dispatch center that the driver, Jeniffer Stewart, 42, of Dennis, was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant."

Stewart was taken into custody without incident, police said.

While taking inventory of the items in the car, the officer discovered drug packaging material, a digital scale and multiple knotted plastic bags containing crack cocaine, heroin and counterfeit prescription pills, police said.

Stewart was charged with trafficking cocaine and possession with intent to distribute heroin and counterfeit pharmaceuticals.

She was arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday.
