Charges Dropped Against 2 In Cape Cod Shooting
An 18 and 19-year-old have had charges against them dropped after new information about the situation that led to a shooting was found.
BARNSTABLE, MA — An 18 and 19-year-old involved in the shooting of a 28-year-old Hyannis woman have had charges against them dropped.
Evan Araujo, 18, and Jacob Winbush, 19, both of Hyannis, faced charges of assault to murder and assault and battery with a firearm, among other charges.
Araujo and Winbush were taken into custody by members of the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement SWAT Team with assistance from the Barnstable Police Patrol Division and K-9 Unit.

A legal notice was filed on Nov. 5, however, that the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office had dropped the charges.
According to a report from the Cape Cod Times, District Attorney Robert Galibois said in a statement that the "alleged victim attempted to rob the two young men − while being armed with a weapon of her own."

The woman who was shot isn't cooperating with the investigation, officials said.
Araujo did plead guilty to a youthful offender indictment which charges him with assault with a dangerous weapon. He is in custody still, and is set for sentencing on Jan. 9.
