Off Duty Firefighter, Nurse Aid In Cape Cod Water Rescue

One person was taken to the hospital after being pulled from the water at a Cape Cod beach over the weekend.

BARNSTABLE, MA — One person was taken to the hospital after they were pulled from the water at a local beach over the weekend on Cape Cod.

Around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department responded to Covell’s Beach in Centerville for a report of a person pulled from the water.

Upon arrival, CPR was already in progress, officials said. Town of Barnstable lifeguards, with assistance from an off-duty firefighter and an off-duty nurse, had initiated life-saving measures, officials said.

C.O.MM Fire personnel took over the care upon arrival, providing advanced medical treatment before transporting the patient to Cape Cod Hospital.
