Election 2024: Barnstable Voter Guide

BARNSTABLE, MA — Voters in Barnstable will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 5, for the 2024 general election.

It's a big year for voters, who will decide between former President Donald Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as races for the House of Representatives, Senate and a number of statewide races.

The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 26. You can check your voting status on the Secretary of State's website, where you can also find your polling place.

Registration deadlines

• In-person at local election office: Oct 26 by 5 p.m.
• Online: Oct 26 by 11:59 p.m.
• By mail (postmarked by): Oct 26

Mail and absentee deadlines

• Request ballot (received by): Oct 29 by 5 p.m.
• Return ballot by mail (postmarked by): Nov 5
• Return ballot in person: Nov 5 by 8 p.m.

Voting deadlines

• Early voting: Oct 19 - Nov 1
• In-person: Nov 5

Voting on Election Day

Polls in Massachusetts are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can also use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place.

Early Voting

Early voting in Barnstable and across Massachusetts starts on Oct. 19 and stretches until Nov. 1. In Barnstable, early voting will take place at 200 Main St., in Hyannis. For a full list of times and days to vote early, click here.

The following are the key contested races that will be on the ballot for Barnstable voters:

State Senate, Cape and Islands

• Julian Cyr, Democrat
• Christopher Lauzon, Republican
• Joe Van Nes, Unenrolled

9th Congressional District

• Bill Keating, Democrat
• Dan Sullivan, Republican

Voters across the state will also have the chance to vote on four ballot questions ranging in topics from legalizing drugs to transparency on Beacon Hill.
