Hyannis Fentanyl Raids: Brothers Arrested, Police Say

Barnstable police said Dilon and Denzel Smith distributed large quantities of fentanyl across Cape Cod.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Two Hyannis brothers were arrested for running a fentanyl dealing operation and shooting a man Thanksgiving Eve, police announced Thursday. Dilon and Denzel Smith, both 25 years old, were charged with a host of crimes. Police said Dilon Smith shot a man on Fresh Holes Road November 24 at about 4:15 p.m.

"Responding officers found a male victim suffering from a 9mm gunshot wound," Barnstable police said in a statement. "The victim was taken to (Cape Cod Hospital) for treatment."

Police said the brothers were already under investigation for distributing "large quantities" of fentanyl across Cape Cod. On Wednesday, Barnstable and Yarmouth police raided two residences on Lewis Bay and Megan Road and arrested the brothers. Police said they found 100 grams of fentanyl and a 9mm pistol and .22-caliber revolver belonging to the brothers. Both men have long criminal histories.
