Hyannis Man Arrested for OUI, Assaulting Officers After Scooter Chase
A Hyannis resident was booked for his fourth OUI alcohol offense after fleeing from officers on a motor scooter and resisting arrest.

A Hyannis resident was arrested on his fourth OUI alcohol charge, Oct. 3, after evading arrest on a motor scooter and on foot as well as assaulting two police officers.
Matthew Sylvia, 47, was charged with OUI/alcohol-4th offense, operating to endanger, operating with a revoked license, failure to stop for police officer, A&B on a police officer-2counts, and resisting arrest.
Just before 7 p.m. Thursday, Barnstable Officer Scott Wright and Barnstable Deputy Michael Huse observed an erratic scooter operator on Route 28 near the Hyannis/Yarmouth line. The officers signaled for Sylvia to pullover, but the Hyannis man continued to drive recklessly into Yarmouth.
Sylvia, who has over 100 arraignments on his adult criminal file, fled on foot on Rosetta Lane. A physical altercation the occurred between the suspect and two officers, according to a release from the Barnstable Police Department.
Sylvia was transported to Cape Cod Hospital, where he was treated for a minor injury and released.
