Barnstable Man Charged With Cocaine Trafficking

Police found more than 38 grams of cocaine in the suspect's pants

A Hyannis man is facing cocaine trafficking charges following his arrest at a West Yarmouth traffic stop on Tuesday. 21-year-old Stefan S. James was a passenger in a car when the driver was pulled over on Route 28 for a rejected inspection sticker.

Officers discovered that James, the front seat passenger, had three outstanding warrants out of Barnstable District Court (trespassing, disorderly conduct and two counts of operating after license suspension), according to the release.

After James was taken to the police station, officer found that he was carrying 38.44 grams of cocaine in clear plastic baggies in his underwear, the release said. Police also seized $620 in cash from James.

James has been charged with possession of a Class B drug (cocaine), cocaine trafficking and three active warrants.
