Man Dies In Martha's Vineyard Industrial Accident
A Fall River man fell from a ladder while working at a large job site on Martha's Vineyard. Officials have ruled it an accident.
MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA — A Fall River man is dead after a construction accident on Tuesday, the Cape and Islands District Attorney said.
At approximately 7:43 a.m. on Tuesday, Edgartown Police and EMS/Rescue were dispatched to a large apartment construction site for a report of a man who fell from a second-story ladder and onto a cement basement floor.
The man, Jose Luis Collaguazo Crespo, 32, was transported from the scene to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

"District Attorney Galibois’ s thoughts are with the victims’ loved ones during this difficult time and tragic accident," officials said. "District Attorney Galibois would like to recognize and thank the first responders for their swift and professional response to the incident, as well as investigators who worked diligently to gather facts."
At this time, investigators have preliminarily ruled the incident an accident.

Based on the available information, any potential negligence by the developer would fall under civil rather than criminal jurisdiction, officials said. There is no active criminal investigation.
