Motorcycle Rider Suffers 'Extremely Serious' Injury In Car Accident

The crash remains under investigation, police officials said.

MARSTONS MILLS, MA — A motorcycle rider suffered a serious lower body injury during a recent car accident, area fire officials said.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department received a call reporting a motor vehicle crash involving a car and a motorcycle in the area of Santuit-Newtown Road and River Road in Marstons Mills.

Upon arrival, crews found a single occupant in the car and one motorcyclist who had sustained a severe lower extremity injury.

"The injury was considered extremely serious in nature," fire officials said.

The patient was transported to the Marstons Mills Airfield, where a MedFlight helicopter was standing by for transport to a Rhode Island area trauma center, officials said.

The Barnstable Police Department assisted at the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
