HYANNIS, MA — A new and expanded Whole Foods is set to open Thursday in Hyannis, but residents won't need to go far for the new store.

Company officials said the new 42,560-square-foot store, to be located at 790 Iyannough Rd., will open on Oct. 10 at 9 a.m. Regular store hours will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

The previous location at 990 Iyannough Rd. has been open for 10 years, but company officials said the larger store will provide new features for the community.

"This new, larger store’s design draws inspiration from the Cape’s coastal conditions, incorporating themes of wind and water into a palette of soft neutrals and deep earth tones, balanced by clean, contemporary lines," the company said, in a news release.

"The store’s product assortment will feature more than 370 local items from New England, sourced with the help of Holly Long, Forager for Local & Emerging Brands at Whole Foods Market."

Whole Foods will now offer grocery delivery to Cape Cod residents along with grocery pickup, and the store will have an Amazon returns counter and kiosk, officials said.

In addition to the new, permanent features, the company will have multiple opening day activations on the docket for Oct. 10.

Opening morning, the first 300 customers in line will receive a limited-edition tote bag and a "Secret Saver" coupon featuring offers up to $100 off, officials said. Jim's Organic Coffee and pastries from Pain D'Avignon Bakery will also be provided.

As part of the celebration, Whole Foods Market will also donate a Nourishing Our Neighborhoods van to Family Table Collaborative.

"This initiative, part of the Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program launched in 2020, aims to enhance the operational capabilities of local food rescue organizations, enabling efficient transport of food from surplus locations to areas with the greatest need," officials said.
