Nor'easter Dumps Snow On Cape Cod, Causes Difficult Driving Conditions
Nearly 6 inches of snow have fallen on Cape Cod, with local public works employees working through tough plowing conditions.
CAPE COD, MA — Nearly 6 inches of snow have fallen on Cape Cod as of Tuesday afternoon, prompting local officials to ask residents to stay off the road.
In Barnstable, town officials said they have activated the entire snow plow roster to treat main and secondary roads.
"The current forecast from the National Weather Service remains at 8-12 inches of total snow accumulation," officials said. "This will make very difficult plowing and driving conditions. If possible, please stay off the roads."

As the day progressed, town officials said there were multiple reports of downed trees and limbs as the winds intensified and snow continued to blowing, causing tough conditions for plows.
As a result, the town closed the Hyannis Youth and Community Center and the Barnstable Adult Community Center early on Tuesday.

School districts across Cape Cod canceled school on Tuesday, including Falmouth and Barnstable Public School Districts. Following suit, some towns also closed their municipal buildings, including town halls and libraries.
On the county level, the Barnstable County Complex closed on Tuesday, too.
The complex houses the Cape Cod Commission, Superior Courthouse, Registry of Deeds, First District Court House, administration, County Clerk and finance offices and the Commissioners Office.
However, a winter storm warning remains for Cape Cod until 7 p.m.
