His golf life changed when he caught the attention of Tallahassee City golf superintendent Jan Auger, who saw him swinging a golf club outside an apartment complex just behind Hilaman Park Golf Course. Auger invited Johnson to the clubhouse, providing him with a 9-iron and a bucket of balls.
Now, Johnson hopes to return the favor by helping mentor the Massachusetts golfers who turn out to the annual event.

"Working with this team and introducing golf to this young community is something I'm incredibly proud of. I’m excited to continue to empower the next generation, both on the course and in life," Johnson said.
