Road Race
The road race begins at 8:30 a.m. from John Glenn Middle School. Expect runners and police officers assisting with the race on the following roadways: McMahon Road, Concord Road, Davis Road, and some of the side roads within the David Road loop. The roadways will be open, but please use caution while traveling. For more information and to register please to go https://friendsformatty.org/mattys-5k-road-race/.
Parade
Dozens of local groups and organizations will be marching and riding in the Bedford Day Parade. The parade route is from The Great Road and Loomis Street, north on The Great Road and turns left onto Mudge Way. It begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at approximately 11:30 a.m.
The Great Road (from Loomis to North & Concord Roads) will be closed for the parade at 10 a.m. until approximately noon. Traffic will be detoured around the event during those times. Loomis Street between Webber and The Great Road will be closed at 9:30 a.m. for parade staging. There will be an extension of the overnight parking ban on The Great Road throughout the morning until after the parade ends. During the road closure, the MBTA Route 62/76 combo will use a modified route (Outbound: from The Great Road->right on Brooksbie Road->left on Page Road->right on Springs Road onto its regular route; Inbound: from Springs Road->left on Page Road->right on Brooksbie Road->left on The Great Road onto its regular route).
Fair
The Bedford Day Fair features booths with dozens of local groups, entertainment, activities, and food vendors, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on the Town Campus between Town Hall and the Police Station. Public restrooms will be available in the Town Center (Yellow) building, the Library, and the Police Station. No traffic or parking will be allowed on Mudge Way during the fair, and no parking will be allowed at any time on September 18 behind Town Center.
The Bedford Health Department is offering free COVID-19 (ages 12+) and Flu (ages 8+) vaccinations from 9 a.m. – noon. For both vaccinations, please bring ID, insurance cards, and a mask, and come to the big white tent behind the Town Center (Yellow) Building. Fireworks
For the first time, (due to the pandemic-related cancellation of July 4th fireworks) fireworks will be included as part of Bedford Day! The fireworks display will start at 7:30 p.m. The suggested viewing area is the fields between Bedford High School and Town Hall/Town Center (the fireworks will be launched from a site on the John Glenn Middle School campus). Bedford Farms Ice Cream will be on hand selling cups of their best-selling fall flavors and cookie sandwiches. Spectators are asked to not arrive prior to 6:00 p.m, and are reminded not to leave any items unattended (especially bags and coolers) to avoid removal by the Police. The use of bug spray is strongly recommended. Portable restrooms and handicap parking will be available. Railroad Avenue and McMahon Road will be closed in advance and during the fireworks display.
