Get Out For a Flavor of Bedford This Weekend

The Bedford Chamber of Commerce (BCOC) will host the annual Flavors of Bedford food tasting on Sunday at the DoubleTree Bedford Glen Hotel, offering Bedford residents the chance to experience gourmet food from over 25 restaurants from Bedford, Burlington, Billerica and Lexington.

BCOC Executive Director Maureen Sullivan said in its 11th year, Flavors of Bedford provides Bedford foodies with a chance to get out and sample the menus of restaurants they may not frequent.

"We have so many wonderful restaurants you don't usually go to," Sullivan said. "It's at a five star hotel, everything is served on china and we have a cash bar. It's a really nice afternoon out."

The name Flavors of Bedford has a dual meaning, according to Sullivan, one referring to the variety of restaurants that participate in the event, and another referring to the crowd the event draws.

"It's really a cross section of the town," Sullivan said. "When else do you get to meet and greet your neighbors, politicians and business people?"

Part of the proceeds from ticket sales for Flavors of Bedford will go to the Heroes Homecoming non-profit, supporting veterans returning from overseas.

"Unfortunately the war has gone and we still continue to donate proceeds for homecoming veterans," Sullivan said. "It's a wonderful time to honor our veterans."
