Mulch Fire Damages Chipotle in Bedford

A fire outside Chipotle in Bedford appears to be the result of a cigarette being thrown in some mulch.

The call for the fire came into the Bedford Fire Department at about 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, said Bedford Fire Capt. Mark Sullivan.

“The fire spread into the exterior of the building, causing minor damage,” Sullivan said.

Sullivan said it appears the fire began when someone disposed of smoking material in mulch outside the restaurant at 343 The Great Road.

Firefighters doused the flames and wet down the area to prevent fire from sparking again. They left they scene by about 10:20 p.m., Sullivan said.
