5 Things: A Full Sports Schedule, Walk-a-bouts from the Beech Start Today

Events occurring in Belmont on Friday, May 3

1. Lots of sports today at Belmont High School: Boys' Tennis gets under way at 3:30 p.m. vs. Melrose while both Softball and Baseball take on more Melrose High athletes staring at 3:45 p.m. and finally Girls' Lacrosse will host Lexington High School at 4:30 p.m. at Harris Field.

2. Watch out; they're back on the streets. The Beech Street Center walking group resumes for the season beginning today, Friday, May 3 and  thereafter on Mondays and Fridays at 10:15 a.m. (in June, start time will be 9:30). Take a walk around the neighborhood with like-minded folks.

3. It's another Friday morning filled with Fun Nature & Animal Stories at the Benton Library. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., Denise Patnod leds the reading and craft activities for children between 3 and 5 years old. So come join the Benton Library staff and learn, listen and be silly! Registration is not required but parents and/or caregivers must attend.

4. Yoga, taught by professional instructors, is being held this morning from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Plymouth Congregational Church, 582 Pleasant St. in Gardiner Hall, at the back of the church. $10. All levels welcome just bring your own mat if you can. $6 per child for child care. All proceeds benefit Plymouth Nursery School.

5. Playtime is a drop-in, informal play group for toddlers and preschoolers that meets in the Children's Room of the Belmont Public Libraryfrom 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. It's where both children and adults can meet new friends. Call the Children's Room at 617-993-2880 with any questions.
