5 Things: Library Bingo for Adults, Beech's BSO Series, Mick Turns 70

Events occurring in Belmont on Friday, July 26.

1. The Belmont Public Library has begun its first ever summer reading program for adults: Beach Read Bingo. Here how it works: Pick up your bingo card at the circulation or reference desk at any time.  Fill in the squares by reading a mystery, a nonfiction book, a book set at the seashore, etc. You’ve got BINGO when you have completed 5 squares in a row: horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. When you have completed a row for BINGO, bring your bingo card to the circulation desk to be entered in our raffle to win gift certificates at local stores and other great prizes. Stop by in July and August to pick up your bingo card.  The reading program will end August 23.  Drawings will be on Monday, August 26 and winners will be notified by phone or email.

2. At 10 a.m., Denise Patnod will be leading the Benton Library's Pre-school
Story Time,
a 45-minute program geared toward children between 3 and 5. It features a variety of stories, as well as music, finger plays and/or a craft. Parents and caregivers must remain with their preschooler during the program. Sign up is not required.

3. There are only five seats remaining on the bus for the The Beech Street Center's Boston Symphony Orchestra 2013-14 Concert Series that are on sale so reserve your space now if you are interested.  All concerts are on Thursdays: Oct. 10, Nov. 21 and March 27. The price has remained the same as last year for the three-concert series of Open Rehearsals: $95. The cost includes round-trip bus transportation. For information please call Dena (617-993-2977) or check the July or June Senior Notes newsletter.

4. The homeroom assignments for Belmont High School students has just been released and can be viewed at the Belmont Public School's website

5. On this day in 1943, Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones was born. Yes, Mick turns 70 today. Sadly, you do get to old to rock and roll.
