5 Things: Sign Up for Brendan's Home Run This Sunday
Events occurring in Belmont on Wednesday, June 12.

1. Today is the final day to pre-register for Belmont's premier road race: the Brendan's Home Run 5k race & walk which will be held this Sunday, Father's Day, June 16 at 9:30 a.m. at the Belmont High School track. All proceeds will go to benefit the Brendan Grant Foundation.
2. Insituform Technologies will be doing sewer and drain repairs on Cushing and Oak avenues.. The work begins at 7 a.m.
3. The Belmont Recreation Department has sent out its Summer 2013 Brochure and registration for courses and classes are underway so don't wait as programs are filling up.

4. Duplicate Bridge Club meets from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Beech Street Center at 266 Beech St. Every Wednesday the club holds American Contact Bridge League-sanctioned games. All are welcome to play. Cost is $5.
5. On this day in 1775, British general Thomas Gage declares martial law in Massachusetts. The British offer a pardon to all colonists who lay down their arms, including the few living on farms in West Cambridge which would become Belmont. There would be only two exceptions to the amnesty: Samuel Adams and John Hancock, if captured, were to be hanged on the spot.
