5 Things: Summer Story Time, Tea at the Beech

Events occurring in Belmont on Tuesday, July 30.

1. It's Summer story time at the Benton Library at the corner of Oakley and Old Middlesex beginning at 10:30 a.m. Lenora Ellison will be telling stories for children 3 to 5. Parents or caregivers must attend. Siblings are welcome with adults. Registration is not required.

2. Before heading over to the pool or an afternoon of fun, stop by the Belmont Public Library's Assembly Room for Noon Movies: Join other kids for a double feature: Rapunzel and Ralph S. Mouse.

3. The Beech Street Center is holding its second "Tea and Games" on the Center's patio beginning at 1:15 p.m.

4. Susan Alyn, the daughter of a Beech Street Center member, will share her true story of improving communications with family members (in her case, significantly) through a private blog she made for them in her talk, "How Caregivers Can Improve Communication with Family Members: Private Blogs" at 5:30 p.m. at the Beech. The blog helped her family members better understand her elderly mother’s life and how Susan assists her.  If attendees express interest about making their own private blogs, Susan can teach a multi-session “how-to” workshop at a future date.  Come learn about this innovative way to improve family relationships and caregiving.

5. On this day in 1975, Jimmy Hoffa disappears from the parking lot of the Machus Red Fox restaurant in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, a Detroit suburb at about 2:30 p.m. He is never seen or heard from again.
