Belmont Cultural Council Announces 2013 Grant Recipients

Funds up to $500 to town and area groups that highlight the arts in Belmont.

In partnership with the Massachusetts Cultural Council's Local Cultural Council (LCC) Program, the Belmont Cultural Council has awarded grants ranging from $200 to $500 for the coming year to the following recipients:

Janet Amdur for a public mural on Trapelo Road, beside Belmont Studio Cinema.

Davis Bates and Roger Tincknell for a children’s song and story event at the Belmont Public Library.

Belmont Gallery of Art for the promotion of Spring 2013 shows.

Belmont High School Performing Arts for costumes for “Grease.”

Belmont Woman’s Club for Winslow Homer events.

Belmont World Film for a program of family films.

Dance Caliente for a performance at the Beech Street Center.

Mass Audubon Habitat for nature presentations at the Beech Street Center.

Odaiko New England for a performance at the Beech Street Center.

Powers Music School for a series of faculty concerts.                

Wellington PTO for a performance about the rain forest by Diane Edgecomb.

The Belmont Cultural Council (BCC) has supported hundreds of community-oriented arts, humanities, and science projects, benefiting schools, organizations and individuals. The Council consists of Anne Quirk, Chair; Ken Stalberg, Treasurer; Christine Sandvik, Secretary; and Jirair Hovsepian, Anne Levy, Ilyse Robbins Mohr and Rebecca Richards.  

The Massachusetts Cultural Council's Local Cultural Council (LCC) Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation. It supports thousands of community-based projects in the arts, humanities, and sciences annually. Each year, local councils award more than $2 million in grants to more than 5,000 cultural programs statewide.
