Belmont High's 'Grease' Nominated for 16 Theatre Guild Awards
The Performing Arts Company's production garners the most nominations in Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild Awards.
"Grease" is the word for Belmont High School's Performing Arts Company.
On Thursday, May 23, The Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild announced their nominations for the upcoming MET Musical Awards co-sponsored with Broadway in Boston.
And out of 50 high schools entering the awards, Belmont High School's PAC's production of Grease took home more nominations than any other production.

The new MET Musical Awards recognize student excellence across several performance, design and production categories in both high school and middle school musicals.
"Grease" was directed and produced by Chris Brindley, choreographed by Karen L. Herndandez, the music direction was by Sean Landers and the pit orchestra conducted by Lauren Haley.

An awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 11 at Boston's Paramount Theatre for all nominees. Belmont High's nominees are:
• Best Featured Actor: Henry Dalby (Teen Angel)
• Best Featured Actor: Michael Wagner (Eugene)
• Best Supporting Actress: Emma Costa (Frenchy)
• Best Supporting Actor: Alex Grifin (Kenicke)
• Best Leading Actor: John Robert Scordino (Danny)
• Best Choral Ensemble
• Best Set Design
• Best Lighting Design
• Best Props Design
• Best Sound Design
• Best Make-Up and Hair Design
• Best Stage Management
• Best Choreography
• Best Music Direction
• Best Direction
• Best Production
Earlier this year, the METG announces a new education project to reach those students and teachers who enjoy the experience of singing and dancing their way through a full scale musical theater production.
This new program offered both middle and high school members a season-long opportunity to bring experienced adjudicators into their theaters where they received professional feedback on their hard work creating musical theater productions.
