Belmont High Students To Decide Future of Marauder Logo
Students have until Friday to cast their vote for a new mascot or keep the ol' pirate.

It's traditional retro vs. Patriots' modern.
Under the lead of Belmont High School Principal Dan Richards, the future of what image will represent the Marauder spirit is now in the hands of Belmont students.
Richards is currently working with a company to create an on-line store for the school. Part of the package of services offers the school is to revisit it’s current logo and provide other renditions of the mascot.

"The motivation for creating an ... on-line school store is because a portion of the sales comes back to the students for the purchase of new equipment, chairs for the library," said Richards in an email exchange with Belmont Patch.
This is an easy way to help create additional revenue, he said.

Teachers, administrators, students and parents took part in the creative process and arrived with the new streamline logo and the current design. All high school students are eligible to vote on keeping the original logo – which has been cleaned up and with a different font – or the more contemporary image that looks a bit like the New England Patriots' "Elvis" symbol.
Voting ends on Friday at high noon, said Richards.
