Belmont's Craft Beer Cellar Holding Boston Marathon Fundraiser Beginning at Noon

In response to the tragic events at yesterday's terrorist bombings; donations to the victims.

Suzanne Schalow, co-owner of Belmont's Craft Beer Cellar on Leonard Street, said she was telling people yesterday what the world needs more of is "Love, peace and craft beer."

In response to the tragic events of yesterday’s Boston Marathon, the Craft Beer Cellar located in the heart of Belmont Center will be donating more than $1,700 to the victims and their families that was meant to help offset the costs of license applications and remodeling at their newest New England location; Craft Beer Cellar New England Annex in Winchester.

In addition to the lump sum, Craft Beer Cellar will be holding a day-long event today that starts at noon, Tuesday, April 16. Doors will be open to the community, brewers, fans or anyone else looking to gather together to both share their grief and respect for anyone affected by the bombings as well as celebrate what makes Boston great: its people.

“We’re just focusing on the community today,” said Schalow, who is encouraging people to come and work from the store rather than be alone.

“We want to open our doors to the public and create a safe haven for anyone who wants one.”

Craft Beer Cellar opened in November 2010 by former restauranteurs Kate Baker and Schalow and offers more than 800 craft, micro and artisanal beers from the United States and beyond.
