Half of Belmont Runners Reported Finishing Marathon
An equal number of marathoners have not yet crossed the line, according to the marathon.
Thirteen Belmont runners have reportedly finished the Boston Marathon before the terrorist attack that occurred in two locations along the finishing stretch on Boylston Street this afternoon, Monday, April 15.
Two were killed – including an eight-year-old – and more than 90 are hospitalized after the terrorist bombing at the finish line and 100 yards further up Boylston Street.
Approximately 17,500 of the 27,000 runners had crossed the finish line when the bombs exploded.

The bombs exploded as the race clock – set to start at 10 a.m. when the elite runners left Hopkinton – was about to reach 4 hours and 10 minutes.
The Boston Athletic Association web site also reported that 12 runners who crossed the half-way point, 13.1 miles in Wellesley, who have not registered a finish time.

The 117th edition of the race was stopped moments after the terrorist attacks. Runner on the route were not allowed onto Boylston and told later to travel to the Boston Common.
