An outbound MBTA commuter rail train derailed in Belmont around 8:24 a.m., a when the axle of one of the commuter cars failed. The Fitchburg bound train had just left the Belmont station in Belmont Center when the derailment occurred. About 30 passengers were on the train at the time, however no one was injured. The riders were safely removed from the train. Stay with Belmont Patch for updates on the derailment.
