New Commuter Parking in Belmont Center

There are some parking changes coming to Belmont Center.

The Town of Belmont will be officially implementing several changes to public parking in the Belmont Center neighborhood starting on May 1.

According to the town:

“Among these changes will be the addition of 10 new commuter parking spaces on Royal Road in front of the Belmont Lions Club and the Claflin Street Lot. The new spaces will be available between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. to monthly commuter parking permit holders.

“These spaces provide a direct access to the MBTA Belmont Center Station on the commuter rail line between Fitchburg and North Station in Boston.

“In addition they are a short walk from the MBTA 74 and 75 bus routes to Harvard Square, town offices, and many businesses in the center. All day parking in both locations is available to monthly pass holders Monday through Friday on a first come, first serve basis.

“The monthly parking fee effective May 1, 2015 is $90 for a commuter permit.

“Interested persons should contact the Belmont Police Department Traffic Division at (617) 993-2530 for more information about obtaining a commuter parking permit. Short term and daily parking remains available in Belmont Center Claflin Street Municipal Parking Lot on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The cost for short-term parking will be $1/hour or $5/day effective May 1, 2015.

“Hourly or daily passes can be purchased from the pay stations located in the Claflin Street Municipal Parking Lot.”
