Selectmen to Belmont: Go Shopping
Friday's lock down impacted local businesses; help them by spending a few bucks.

The Belmont Board of Selectmen would like to everyone to go shopping.
Through the combined efforts of public safety personnel and citizens, the Greater Boston area has survived the vicious and cowardly terrorist attack on April 15, said Selectman Ralph Jones at a morning meeting of the board on Monday, April 22.
As we return to our normal daily routines, Belmont resident and political analyst Jon Keller suggested that everyone should patronize the businesses on Boston's Boylston Street. They have been closed for a week and it may be longer. They will need customer support to continue operations. Patronizing these businesses is one way to say we refused to be terrorized.

The Selectmen suggest that residents take similar steps to help Belmont businesses. The "secure-in-place" order last Friday meant that all of them were also closed.
"We encourage residents to show support for these businesses," said Jones.
