'Some Buddy' Performance, Medicare Rights and More

Events occurring in Belmont on Tuesday, August 6.

1. They have rehearsed during their summer vacation and now the highly anticipated one-and-only performance of 'Some Buddy' written and performed by the Voices from the Middle Players – Chenery Middle School students who worked for a month of workshops, will be held in the Assembly Room of the Belmont Public Library at 7 p.m. It's free and open to all!

2. The Beech Street Center will be holding a public meeting on "Your Rights as a Medicare Beneficiary" from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the Center at 266 Beech St. This program presented by Masspro, the local Quality Improvement Organization, will give you an overview of Medicare and the role of QIOs in protecting rights of Medicare beneficiaries.  Find out about your right to appeal discharge determinations and the right to file complaints about care received.

3. At 10:30 a.m., Denise Patnod will lead Benton Library's Pre-school Story Time, a 45-minute program geared toward children between 3 and 5. It features a variety of stories, as well as music, finger plays and/or a craft. Parents and caregivers must remain with their preschooler during the program. Sign up is not required. 

4. Today is Noon Movies at the Belmont Public Library. Join the staff for these wonderful movies for children: "Happy Lion," "The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash" and "Runaway Ralph."

5. On this day in 1991, Tim Berners-Lee releases files describing his idea for the World Wide Web, debuting as a publicly available service on the Internet.
