Talent Show at the Beech, Noon Movies and More
Events occurring in Belmont on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

1. Come to the Beech Street Center’s inaugural talent show at 1:15 p.m. Enjoy singers, as well as performers who will recite original poetry, do Hungarian dance, recite monologues and play the piano.
2. There will be roadway reconstruction on Springfield and Irving streets while crews from Insituform Technologies will be relining sewers and drains on Rayburn Road, Partridge Lane and Greybirch Circle.
3. What better place is there to be on a rainy day then joining the staff of the Belmont Public Library for Noon Movies in the Assembly Room. The wonderful movies for children include:
No Roses for Harry
Wild about Books
Dem Bones
That New Animal
The Emperor's New Clothes
Amazing Grace.
4. It's Summer story time at the Benton Library at the corner of Oakley and Old Middlesex beginning at 10:30 a.m. Lenora Ellison will be telling stories for children 3 to 5. Parents or caregivers must attend. Siblings are welcome with adults. Registration is not required.
5. On this day in 1961, Berlin was divided as East Germany sealed off the border between the city's eastern and western sectors in order to halt the flight of refugees. Thirty years later, the Berlin Wall came down as the old Soviet Union collapsed.
