The Week in Review: Town Meeting and Hollywood Coming to Belmont

Events that occurred in Belmont in the past week.

The first two nights of the annual Belmont Town Meeting took place Monday as the yearly gathering of Belmont's legislative body approved new powers for the Town Administrator and increasing the number of restaurant liquor licenses and stores that can sell alcohol while on the second night the Town Meeting voted to approve the nine projects being funded by the town's Community Preservation Committee.

The Demolition Delay Article will not be heard until June as questions to the wording and structure of the by-law forced the delay.

Belmont's Town Administrator David Kale has been hospitalized with a "serious" acute illness that has forced time to be away from Town Hall.

A major Hollywood movie starring Robert Downey Jr. will be filming in Belmont as the town has received a "letter of intent" to shot two days of scenes in July at the former Belmont Municipal Light Department in Belmont Center.
