US Premiere of 'The Dead and the Living' at Studio Cinema
Part of Belmont World Film's "Found in Translation" international film festival.

The Belmont Studio Cinema will be hosting the US premiere of German film, "The Dead and the Living," Monday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m., part of Belmont World Film's "Found in Translation" annual international film festival.
An official selection at the Viennale, the film, by Austrian filmmaker Barbara Albert, concerns a young German woman (Anna Fischer) who embarks on an expedition into her family's past during World War II, setting her on a personal journey that takes her from Berlin to Romania via Vienna and Warsaw and into the abyss of modern European society.

The film offers a glimpse into the Eastern European psyche that is virtually unknown to Americans where youths in Germany, Austria and Poland, are willing to explore and examine their families' participation in the Holocaust, preferring to face the truth head on.
Igor Lukes, Honorary Consul General of the Czech Republic and Professor of International Relations and History at Boston University who specializes in Central European history, East European politics, and contemporary Russia is the guest speaker who will lead a discussion after the film.
