9 Arrests in Beverly Since Monday

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department:
Monday, Jan. 7
- A neighbor argument was reported to police from Sohier Road at 6:27 a.m.
- At 8:26 a.m. police responded to a disturbance on Charnock Avenue, where an individual reportedly threw a bottle at a police officer. Police arrested Clover Valasunas, 37, of 28 Charnock St., on charges of disorderly conduct and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
- A larceny was reported on Winthrop Avenue on 2:52 p.m.
- At 3:24 p.m. police and fire responded to CVS on Dodge Street on report of smoke and a burning smell in the pharmacy area. Beverly Fire Department discovered the burning smell was coming from roofing tar in the HVAC unit.
- At 4:23 p.m. police arrested Sean Ryan, 36, of 2 Pierce Ave. in Salem, on charges of larceny under $250 and a warrant charge.
- Police were called to a fight at 4:38 p.m. inside a vehicle parked on Rantoul Street. Johnathan Breda, 25, of 2 Father Jacoby Rd. in East Boston, was arrested on charges of assault and battery.
- An employee was caught stealing at a Bank of America ATM on Rantoul Street at 4:40 p.m.
- At 4:45 p.m. police arrested John Strausser, 27, of 56 River St., on warrant charges.
- A computer was reported stolen on Thorndike Street at 5:48 p.m.
- Police pulled over a vehicle on Broadway at 10:18 p.m. for a headlights violation, and reported observing a large kitchen knife on the floor behind the driver's seat. Police searched the vehicle but did not find other weapons.

- Police were called to Sam Fonzo Drive at 8:50 a.m. on report of a vehicle that damaged a property owner's grass.
- A vehicle was reported stolen on Rantoul Street at 9 a.m.
- At 10:36 a.m. police were called to Simon Street on report of suspicious activity in an abandoned building. Police discovered kids, one of whom was in possession of marijuana. One of the individuals received a citation for trespassing.
- At 12:22 p.m. police arrested Stephen Hardy, 26, listed as homeless, on two warrant charges.
- At 12:45 p.m. police arrested Phillip Fitzgerald, 39, of 39 Squam Hill Rd. in Rockport, on charges of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
- Police were called to Beverly High School on report of a golf cart that struck a parked car at 1:29 p.m.
- At 4:35 p.m. police arrested Charles Passanisi, 49, of 11 Lyman St., on charges of possession of a class b and class e substance, and two warrant charges.
- Police were called to Simon Street at 6:24 p.m. on report of, what police described as a 'neighborhood miscommunication'. A man told police he thought he heard a neighborhood group of kids say they were going to 'get him'. Police spoke to the kids, who said they weren't talking to/about him, and both groups involved were advised to stay away from one another for the rest of the night.
- Police were called to Dane Street at 10:36 p.m. on report of a loud banging noise. Police spoke to the man in question, who told them he was just hanging pictures on the walls.
Wednesday, Jan. 9
- At 3:15 a.m. police were called to Essex Street on report of loud music and yelling. Police told the group to quiet down.
- At 5:38 a.m. police arrested Timothy Bird, 38, of 50 Broadway, on warrant charges.
- At 9:22 a.m. police arrested Stephen Martin, 47, of 4 Duck Pond Rd., on warrant charges.
- Four tires and rims were reported stolen from a vehicle on New Balch Street at 10:12 a.m.
- An act of vandalism was reported on Rantoul Street at 12 p.m.
- Police recovered a stolen cell phone at 1:19 p.m.
