BEVERLY, MA — Beth Israel Lahey Health plans to close a partial-hospitalization program for treating mental illness and addiction at Beverly Hospital. The healthcare provider will continue to offer the program at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester and BayRidge Hospital. Beth Israel said closing the Beverly program will allow it to consolidate its clinical staff and serve more patients.

"Bringing the clinical staff together in the Gloucester and Lynn locations will position the program for future growth and give us the ability to offer services to more patients in need," spokesman Christopher Murphy told the Salem News, which first reported. But some patients and officials worry the closing will make it harder for patients in Beverly to get treatment.
