BEVERLY, MA — Beverly Hospital and Beth Israel Lahey Health have launched a new program designed to bring inpatient-level care to patients in their own homes.

Patients in the program have 24/7 access to their care team and are seen with a combination of in-person and telehealth visits. In-home patients receive equipment to monitor vital signs, a telephone to connect directly with their care team and a computer tablet for video visits.

Typical services like lab tests, IV therapies, X-rays and ultrasounds are all available to be performed in the home.

"Hospital at Home allows our patients to recover in the comfort of their homes, with the same access to care that they would receive in an inpatient setting," BILH Executive Vice President of Hospital and Ambulatory Services Michael Rowan said. "By giving more patients access to this model of care, we are helping to increase care in the community."

BILH Hospital at Home Vice President Sue Stempek said home care programs have been shown to reduce readmission rates and recovery time for patients.
